What are the requirements for screw processing materials?

Ordinary precision soft screws are widely used, such as positioning screws of level 7 to 8 on machine tools, manual feed screws, etc. Due to their easy processing and low manufacturing cost, they do not require high performance of the materials used and are mostly used for Some are medium carbon steel and medium carbon low alloy steel.

For high-precision precision soft screws, precision screws with an accuracy above level 6 and a hardness below 35HRC are mostly used in structures with light load, low operating frequency, and good lubrication conditions. It commonly uses steel with higher carbon content. Its material requirements, in addition to similar conditions to ordinary precision soft screws, also require that the material has good grinding performance, is not easy to scorch the surface, and has low susceptibility to wear cracks. The grinding surface roughness is low.

For high-precision precision hard screws, the core is required to have a certain strength and toughness, and the surface raceways must have high hardness to ensure sufficient load-bearing capacity and to be able to drive heavy loads for free movement. It is required that the tensile strength of the materials used should reach 700~1000Mpa, and it should also have a certain degree of toughness and precision stability. The workpiece is also required to have good hot and cold processing performance during the manufacturing process.
